Cosmur Construction was one of the first construction companies to achieve and retain the ‘Investors in People’ status in 1999. The award recognises our investment in both staff and the local communities. At Cosmur, investment in training and apprenticeships is considered to be essential. We provide the opportunity for a safe and supported training environment for local people. Trainees will only be placed with staff that we feel can sufficiently provide them with the support and positive learning opportunities they deserve. This approach will ensure our growth as a business, while also allowing trainees to see that construction is their future. This year we partnered with Havering College. Our team attended their organised Open Day. Our Managing Director, Paul Godfrey,... View Article

Stanborough Park Seventh-day Adventist Church is situated on parkland in Garston on the outskirts of Watford. The Church is over 85 years old and is considered of special architectural interest and is locally listed. Our relationship through previous projects with the Church and its members was instrumental in understanding their aspirations. The brief was to refurbish and extend the existing ageing Church hall and ancillary rooms providing increased capacity, improving the platform and its visibility, improving lighting and adding an enhanced worship space. Disruption was managed through daily discussions with the Pastor, understanding the needs of the worshippers, implementing a plan to reduce the noise level of works at specific times and erecting a temporary facility in the car park.... The Sobell Centre is a landmark facility, and a key provider of sports and fitness for Islington residents. The improvements to the centre entailed the modernisation of the facility, giving it a clean and contemporary feel. Being appointed as a design and build contractor we introduced innovative design throughout the project, whilst providing practical, robust solutions to achieve an improved internal layout. Works were undertaken with the centre remaining in use and required careful phasing to ensure that areas adjacent to the working areas remained safe, in use and continued to be in service. Harry Morgans Restaurant

Cosmur successfully negotiated the refurbishment of Harry Morgans restaurant in St Johns Wood High Street.  Established in 1948 by Harry Morgan, a local butcher, this once tiny takeaway deli is now the largest and most famous New York Style Deli Restaurant in London. Harry Morgans is located within an affluent area surrounded by a parade of busy retail outlets. Maintaining minimal disruption to the local businesses and members of the public was of a paramount importance in the successful delivery of this project. The sequence of works were carried out over three phases to ensure the... View Article

Giving Back to the Community!

March 17, 2015 1:03 pm Published by

Our strong presence in the social housing sector and recent success in securing the 2014/2015 internal and external refurbishment works programme for the London Borough of Havering has created vacancies within our Resident Liaison Team. So when we were invited to attend the Homes & Housing Recruitment Event we took full advantage of the invitation by sending our Senior Resident Liaison Officer and Business Development Director to promote Cosmur and identify suitable applicants for the Resident Liaison. We felt it was only right to recruit an individual from within Havering as they would have an insight into the local area, existing relationships with members of the community and it would also give us the opportunity to give something back to... This project involved a ground floor Sainsbury’s Local and nine residential flats, aimed at the high end re-sale market. Situated in a residential area, on a busy link road between Wandsworth Bridge and Parsons Green, made it a logistical challenge for deliveries, however the traffic management plan avoided peak times and encouraged suppliers to use smaller vehicles. As with all Cosmur site projects, this was registered under the Considerate Constructors Scheme to ensure minimal disruption to residents who were an integral part of our communication plan.
