White Cube Gallery

Project name and location:

White Cube Gallery, Masons Yard

Brief summary of the project:

This project was for a new art gallery to be constructed in Masons Yard, off Duke Street, St James’s, London SW1. The works involved the demolition of an existing electricity generating station, the installation of a contiguous piled basement wall to provide a larger and deeper basement and the erection of a steel framed upper building to provide more gallery space and offices. The works were carried out with very limited site access and without the use of a tower crane due to the proximity of adjacent buildings.
