Henderson House

Cosmur were appointed to carry out conversion and roof extension works to Henderson House on St. Dunstans Road, in South Norwood. Originally built as a tile warehouse, the three storey building was in need of modernisation of its existing storage and distribution depot areas, mulltiple structures and gated vehicle / pededestrian access and entrance. In 2008 the upper floors had been converted to six residential flats with their own pedestrian access and entrance, front forecourt and a high white rendered boundary wall. What was an underused site has now been considerably enhanced to a contemporary simplified aesthetic in keeping with the local character. Cosmur’s 44 years of experience in refurbishing listed buildings resulted in securing the conversion and alteration of a Grade II deconsecrated 1820’s church building into a sports facility. Scope of works: Strip out of existing furnishings, fixtures and fittings, redundant services installations ad selected internal partitions wall. Structural alterations, including removal of WWII air raid shelter, converting an external vault into part of a new internal stair enclosure, and installation of a new ground floor support a new sports floor.
