Chelsea FC

Over the last three years Cosmur Construction has carried out a number of fast-track projects for Chelsea Football Club, ranging from the refurbishment of the changing rooms to alterations to seating areas and the addition of new restaurant areas.

We were approached in April 2005 to negotiate a contract to refurbish the Home and Away changing rooms, provide 500 new seats in the South Stand, refurbish a separate bar area and provide new turnstiles. The overall contract value was £1.5m and the works had to be completed during the close season, a period of that was reduced from 12 to 11 weeks during the course of the contract.

There was a heavy services commitment and the works took place in four separate parts of the ground. The design for the changing rooms and new seats changed and developed as the works progressed but our team ensured we were able to hand the project over on time and to budget.

In April 2006 we were approached to carry out additional works at Chelsea Village during the closed season. The contract was negotiated with a final value of £1.5m within the 10 weeks allocated. The works included the refurbishment of four kiosk units in the upper and lower sections of the East stand including all M&E works. Within the main concourse we carried out flooring renewals and refurbishment of the walls and ceilings.

We returned in 2007 for a third negotiated contract to carry out refurbishment works and an extension of the west stand. Again the works were carried out during the closed season, at a value of £1.9m.
