Brockwell Lido
This Design & Build contract for the refurbishment and extension of the Grade II listed lido, originally built in 1937, involved provision of a new gymnasium, changing facilities and a children’s area and included external works. The contract required working with English Heritage and local conservation officers.
The whole of the front elevation was taken down and rebuilt six meters further into Brockwell Park to increase the area available for lido facilities including a hydrotherapy spa, steam room, sauna, therapy areas and changing rooms.
A new 100-station fitness suit, group cycling area and changing rooms were accommodated in the re-configured interior space. Three multi-purpose studios have also been provided.
A new reception area was created to provide access to the new and refurbished areas of the building and offer a welcoming start for visitors to the Heath and Wellbeing Centre.
Brockwell Lido was awarded a ‘Civic Trust Award’ in the ‘Refurbishment to a Listed Building’ category.
