Walton Street
A contract for the complete refurbishment, alterations and redecorations to the corner plot - ‘boot end’ - of a street, in a conservation area in Central London, just off the King’s Road, Chelsea.
A very challenging project, due mainly to the restricted site directly on a street, the work involved creation of a retail unit on the Ground and Lower Ground Floors and conversion of 2 flats into one luxury apartment on the Upper Floors. All work required keeping character features to match the rest of the houses along the terrace.
The contract required the complete demolition of one side of the building whilst retaining the existing façade of the other side. This necessitated a great deal of temporary structural works in order to prop up and stabilise the remaining façade whilst complete re-building works were being carried out to the other side of the building.
Extensive scaffolding and a large number of steel joists were used due to the location and size of the site, and issues relating to the party-wall were also carefully taken into consideration. Installation of specially manufactured ‘period’ windows and a high-end internal fit-out with detailed quality joinery and finishes were carried out by our own, directly employed specialist tradesmen.
