Trinity at Bowes
With funding assistance from MyPlace, Trinity at Bowes Methodist Church in Palmers Green, North London, aims to transform the existing space into a vibrant community centre.
The ‘MyPlace’ programme is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and delivered by the Big Lottery Fund (BIG). It is funding world-class projects across England that are working to create safe places for young people to go where they can engage in a wide range of activities and get information and advice from people they trust.
For Cosmur, this is a project which epitomises the culture and ethos of our company, wherein the processes of construction for us are not just about the buildings but about the people who will use and inhabit the spaces, and that these so called ‘built environments’ should enhance the quality of life for their communities.
It's not just about the ‘bricks and mortar’, it's about the ‘heart and soul’ of what we build and who we build it for.
So we are very excited by this project, and the challenges it poses. The works involve the forming a new Basement beneath the existing Main Hall including a new Lift installation, fit out of new Changing Rooms, Record Studio, TV Studio and Education Room. The works also comprise of the refurbishment of the Main Hall and ancillary areas, including the formation of a new Plant Room, Climbing Wall and Store, replacement of Roof finishes and overhaul of rainwater installations.
The £1.2m scheme, scheduled for 48 weeks, includes contractor design portion of Mechanical and Electrical installation, piling works including secant wall and sheet piling and temporary propping, as well as associated underground drainage, services and site works.
